We’ve also published this article in case you have absolutely no idea on how to pick your honeymoon destination.

4 ways to pick your honeymoon destination

If you are planning your wedding for summer 2019, and you are confused of what could be the perfect honeymoon destination, then join the club. Be prepared for a year full of preparations, discussions and decisions. It’s fun and overwhelming at the same time, but it’s surely one of the best chapters of your life.

Whether you are opting for a traditional Lebanese wedding or a destination wedding in Greece or Italy, it takes a lot of time to set up what is referred to as “the best day of your life”. This and you still haven’t started thinking about the honeymoon.

When it comes to the honeymoon, we all want something chill yet not cliché; romantic yet not boring; out of the box yet not too far away; luxurious yet affordable; fun yet not too packed. We get it! We all want the vacation that follows the “best day of our lives” to be SPECIAL. But everyone forgets one very important thing: each couple is different. There isn’t a perfect honeymoon destination that fits everyone’s taste.

You have the romantic couple, the adventurous one, the foodies, the history gurus, the beach lovers, and the “a little bit from everything” couple. Having said that, it’s very important not to compare yourselves to other couples and keep in mind that the honeymoon is just another vacation.

Since we are in the same boat here, we thought about helping you with the stress of the honeymoon planning by sharing our two-months of searching results. Read more to learn how to find the honeymoon destination of your dreams that fits best with your personality and style.

Before you start

Before opening google maps and start navigating one country after the other, it is crucial in our opinion, to answer the following 4Ws questions:

Where have you been?
Mel and I traveled to more than 35 countries combined. And when it comes to us, we wanted a new country to discover together. Therefore, the first thing we did was to list down the countries we’ve been to and took them off the list of potential destinations. This limited our choices a little bit but was necessary to keep the element of surprise and excitement for both of us when discovering a new country together.

Iceland

When is your wedding?
While the least of your concerns should be whether the destination is in its peak season or not, it is very important to check if the weather is suitable at the time of your visit. Hence, the wedding date is a key element and determined factor if you are planning your honeymoon just after the wedding.

You don’t want to visit Sri-Lanka during the monsoon season, neither Dubai during the hottest months of Summer, nor the Caribbean when the hurricane hits.
A lot of couples are pushing their honeymoon to another time of the year because they have a dream destination that they don’t want to miss. Not a bad idea at all!

Bulgaria

What is the feel/mood you are looking for?
As a couple, we like a bit of everything. Spending 10 days on the beach doing nothing might sound boring for us; spending our honeymoon hiking all the time is not the best idea. So, we started looking for places where we can do both. That’s when the idea of a multiple destinations or a county rich in its nature diversity sounds perfect for us.
But again, that’s us! There is no wrong and right in this as long as both of you agree on it.
We kept in mind that the weeding itself is tiring and overwhelming, so we are allowing ourselves to indulge in a few days of pure chilling at the beginning.

Minutes after I proposed

How long is your honeymoon going to be?
Most of the couples have at least 10 days to spare for the honeymoon, if not more. And this is an opportunity that might not come twice later on! Having ten days free both of you for yourselves. So, think about destinations that require 10 days or more. It’s good to go for big countries rather than small ones or road trips and multiple cities itinerary.

Dubai

Once you have answered these questions, it’s time to start planning. Luckily, we already did our homework and researched for potential honeymoon destinations during summer. We are more than happy to be part of your wedding preparation journey and share with you the outcome of our 2 months research to what could be the honeymoon destination choice that suits you best.

In the next few days we will reveal here 9 ideas for summer honeymoon destinations!
